SWOT Analysis / Developmental Reflection

Using techniques taught in Modelmaking I have analysed my professional self to determine strength's, weakness', opportunities and threat's

Strengths Weakness

Reaching out to clients Organisation

Persistent Checking E-mails

Willing to take risk's Concentration

Always looking to learn Confidence

Optimistic

Opportunity Threat

Travelling Job Competition

Career Social Anxiety

Positive Environment COVID-19

Networking

As demonstrated by my portfolio of work experience I have become comfortable with reaching out to clients and the interview process' as I have already been through it multiple times. This is something that I feel is important to give me a competitive advantage after receiving my degree. Leading onto persistence, which is what has lead to my success in securing work. This is because people are busy so may take longer to respond to emails, leaving time for others to submit applications and reduce the likelihood of receiving the job offer. So I have found that if I haven't received an email back in 1-2 days then following up with a phone call allows you to introduce yourself to the model shop and puts a voice to your email. This often helps people to feel more comfortable when talking to you in the interview or over email. Also the effort demonstrated in following up with a phone call speaks for your character and shows that you actually want the job.

Willing to take risks means that I am comfortable with throwing myself into new situations out of a fear of regret or not living life to the full. I happily put myself into situations that allow me to travel abroad alone and work to develop myself as a person. But also to take business risks such as persuing side hustles in stock trading and drop shipping to provide myself with both financial and creative outlets / revenue streams.

The strengths listed are what I believe will provide me with opportunity such as travelling, a career, positive environments / people and networking opportunities. The only obstacles are my self diagnosed weakness' and threats. Which are largely caused by confidence issues and bad social anxiety. Although I consciously face these challenges head on every day to maintain my mental health and eventually conquer these fears. As a child and event to this day I struggle with concentration issues. However, this is something I am always working on and trying to develop. Partially being what lead me to pursue a creative industry as I can only maintain concentration for subjects and conversation I am interested in. Although I recognise the importance of being able to take an interest in something, even if it isn't directly related to what I am passionate about. As this skill allows people to develop stronger relations and is something I am always trying to develop.

Finally, COVID-19 an issue currently faced globally. As no one can predict how long the virus will be around for it is necessary to strategically position one's self for entrance into a highly competitive economy / industry. Therefore, making it wise to develop a side hustle and bring in some income if faced with the possibility of not receiving work. This is something I will be looking into further as we draw closer the the end of our academic year.
