Echo House Update + Plans for Final Finishes
Updated: Jun 14, 2021
As we are edging towards our final deadline, the model is beginning to look complete. Since the previous post, the first floor, walls, windows and roof have all been added, with construction going smoothly aside from the first-floor walls being cut 1mm too high. Luckily, this was an easy fix as I made sure to dry assemble them first in case of error.

Having now added finishing touches such as the company name (cyber plant) lettering on the side of the model as seen in site images, and some brick flower beds on the roof. These small features really help add some personality to the final aesthetic. Making it look like a completed workspace ready for interior furnishings and people.
Only a few components are left to add. Mainly being acrylic panels (representing glass) on the staircase exterior and some cladding to go on the exterior of these panels.
Breaking down the geometry into simple forms has continued to make the painting process far easier, avoiding the need to spend precious time masking off windows. Learning from the external brief where it became difficult to keep track of all the parts, building the model floor by floor has helped to solve this. Removing the need for a component number / lettering system as seen in my blog posts for that project.
My paint plan for the model has continued to go well and I'm super proud of how the model is turning out. The brickwork being my favourite thanks to the texture and speckling effect, adding an extra layer of detail and helping to bring tonal variation. Tying it with the contrasting blue of the building next door.
From the looks of things construction should be completed on the model by next Friday, allowing time for any unforeseen issues to be resolved which appears unlikely, also leaving time to add any further detailing that feels appropriate on both the Echo House and Heydar Aliyev Centre.
